Setting Up Group Assignments

Canvas uses group sets to assign group assignments, and each group within the group set that is assigned to the assignment is required to complete the assignment.

1. Click on “People” section from left-hand sidebar to create groups

2. Create group set in the “People” section by clicking on the + Group Set button

3. Add details in the window that opens after clicking on +Group Set button and save.

4 .The group set created will appear at the top of the People section and in the drop down menu within Assignment settings  when creating a group assignment.

After creating group sets and adding students in it, add group sets to the group assignment.

5. Click on Assignments in the left hand side bar of Canvas home page, click on + Assignments button on the right hand side and add details including the name of the assignment.

6. Scroll down to connect this assignment to a group that was created earlier in the People section.

7. Add Assign to details and “Save and Publish.”

In speedgrader the assignment can be submitted by one of the group members and all group members will get the same grade for that one assignment submission.
